We don’t think of it as such, but the name for that power source is Life. Also known as God, Good, Truth, Love, Right, Peace, et cetera. These names label various aspects of the God Personage. Ideals like these form an omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent Intelligence that creates and sustains physical existence. Even though people cannot touch, smell, hear, or see these Ideals/ideas, they alone are what truly matters. Our minds stream ideas/knowledge from the Universe’s Intelligence to grow intellectually. Line upon line, precept upon precept. Our brains are receptive to distinct individualized kinds of ideas and belief systems based on our unique DNA signature. Everything about us, including our destinies, is mapped out in our DNA. What I am saying is that the physical world in total is lifeless and our bodies, being part of that physical world, are also lifeless. All life, power, and meaning are derived from the world of ideas, the Universe's Intelligence. It is like Wi-Fi. If the connection is there, we are enlivened. If the connection weakens or ceases to exist, we either begin to die or expire completely. But what does what I have been saying have to do with how sin comes into being.
Continuing with the Wi-Fi analogy, to have a strong connection with God, one must stick to positive ideals and ideas. Only then are we one with God. But when we succumb to hate and negativity, we are on a path toward sinfulness. Yet, it is not as simple as just positivity or negativity. As James 1: 14-15 states, ‘we are drawn into sin by our own lust’. How does that play out, exactly? To answer that question let us draw from our experience with the human voice. The voice, of course, is a means by which we express ideas. The idea itself is not physical. But the medium through which that idea is expressed, the sound of the human voice, is. It is one way to know what another person’s thoughts are. Similarly, the physical world is God’s voice (the Word), Life expressing itself through a physical medium. And like the sound of the voice, the physical world is fleeting, like a mist or a mirage that momentarily exists but then vanishes. That is because the physical world is not true reality, it is reflected reality. It expresses true reality. Like a reflection in a mirror or on the water. It exists, but not substantively. It becomes a problem when people mistake and then put their trust in the reflection rather than the Reality that it represents. Johnny Cash sang about the foolishness of putting your faith in things in his song ‘Hurt.’ He realized before his passing that the culmination of his life’s work is just a kingdom of dirt.
